Howdy, All!! I was looking at the web site again, as I will be having the money shortly to be able to get the jigs and some materials fer the turnouts.

The questions I have are: How much rail is needed to construct a N scale #6?. Second: How many turnouts will be able to be constructed using the 500 pack of ties?.

The reason I ask, As I do want to try to hand lay some, as the cost in the long run wil be cheaper, as I need about 80-90 turnouts. I am using cd80 Atlas now, just does not look right to me. Like they say hind sight is 20/20, would've, could've, should've, oh well,,,adios

If you go the the printable tie template page:

You can select the template for the specific turnout you are interested in building and print it out full size. Using a scale measure the overall length of the rails used, and add about 20%, this will give you a pretty close idea of the amount of rail required to produce one turnout. A piece of Micro Engineering rail is 36" long.

Using the template you can also count the number of ties required to complete the turnout, again, add a few extra as there may need to be 5 or 6 added to the end to get to the point of diverging the two routes into standard length ties.
