I use regular latex caulk to glue the cork to the pipes and the track to the cork with no problems at all. I wonder if the plastic pipes will expand and contract less then wood?

Is there a particular type of adhesive you recommend to use with this? Have you encountered adhesives that suggest they might not bond well over time? Maybe that is a advantage as well. You can even install a tortoise if you cut a small piece of plywood, screw the tortoise to the plywood and glue the plywood under the pipes. There are no problems to anchor scenery to the pipes.
