Any thought for wood ties to be used with the crossovers, or are the ones available long enough?

Hi,

The wood ties we offer are all supplied for us by Mt. Albert Scale Lumber, and are all stock items. As they do not offer ties for crossovers, the only option would be to purchase some strip wood material and cut them to length. Another option would be to lay two turnout length ties end to end, this would be long enough to span the parallel tracks, with some to spare, and would reflect prototype practices.

What about longer PCB ties in 12" strips, that could be cut to length as needed. This possibly could save on material when making several turnouts, crossovers, etc. Don't know if this could be done w/o causing twisting or warping, or if it would be economical to anyone.

The process we use to cut our ties is to stamp them with a powerful press. We do not shear the ties, as this produces twisted material. The trade off, however, are shorter length ties. The longest tie we can cut is about 4 1/2"
