A #6 double slip switch fixture is on it's way to me! I'm wondering if anyone has built a slip switch with continuous points instead of hinged points. Could the point rail be weakened enough by cutting through the rail base and the rail head leaving just the web to flex. It would simplify the construction and provide a positive electrical connection.

YES! Lot's of Double Slips I have completed with the main points (8) being continuous using a cut through on base and head using code 70 and smaller rails. It will require a stout wire with a Tortoise to drive the point bar since 4 each points will be attached - use a pin through the base at the point toe connection to the throw bar as extra strength.

For center point (12 points) number 7 and above DS, you'll have to do a hinge at the center 4 points as their length is not enough for continuous - unless you'll be using code 55 rails - then maybe.
