Fast Tracks

I just completed a 14 deg. crossing on the #8 crossover fixture. It was really easy. The inner guardrails really were easy, no fitting after the crossing was made. They went in first. It took me a while to see how, but all the geometry is there.

Just wish the regular turnout fixtures were capable of crossings too. I do not need enough of them to justify the cost of a fixture. Or is it there but I am not seeing it?

Tim, Ron, keep up the great work on providing excellent tools for the hobby!

Have you already bought fixtures for the ordinary turnouts? The crossover fixtures can be used to construct standard turnouts as well.

Also you could make turnouts/crossings for your friends and/or club, (perhaps for a small fee) and this would lower your costs.

Thanks, Steve. I only have the crossove fixture and it does make regular TO's wonderfully.

As for making trackwork for clubs/others, I live a long way from any city of even moderate size and do not know of any local clubs or model RR people. Wish there were some around.

You don't have to be near anybody. You can mail basic switches to people who can't find the time to build them; especially for unusual types, like your double crossovers. I wouldn't buy a template for just one, but I'd buy just one for the fun of it. Wescott's book shows "The switchman's nightmare", which I'd never consider putting in a layout. But...as a shelf display.
