I'm using a Walther's #8 Curved Turnout as a reference and noticed the length of the turnout Walther's makes is much longer than the Twist Ties. How come? Shouldn't a #10 be longer than a #8?

Walther's curved turnouts are of "questionable" geometry. I have studied their curved turnouts at length, and concluded that most of the sizes on them are a bit of a fabrication.
Our TwistTies are actually straight turnouts that are then curved, and therefore are of correct length for the turnout size stated.
I am not certain how the Walters (formerly Shinohara) turnouts evolved, but I believe they made these up from a series of compromises. Not that there is anything wrong with the Walther's line of curved turnouts, it is just that they are not what they are stated as being as far as the geometry is concerened.
