Do you recommend a PC tie thickness and whats the advantage of one over the other
You didn't mention which scale you work with, so I will cover all of them...
Personally, I model HO and prefer 1/16" ties, and 95% of the orders I get are for this size, but I do offer them in 1/32 for HO and HO narrow gauge as some like to match them up with low profile wood ties. Myself, I use thick wood ties as I like to be able to sand them level prior to installing the turnout, as a nice flat surface makes all the difference in performance of the finished track work.
The smaller scales, N and Z use 1/32" ties exclusively. The thickest I offer is 1/16, so that is all that is available for the larger scales, S and O. A small amount of clearance under the PC ties isn't a problem as the close proximity of the wood ties and ballast will provide plenty of support.
