To Ron or Tim,

When soldering your track, do you solder on both sides of the rail??

Yes, where possible I apply solder to both sides of the rail, this isn't possible in the area around the gaurdrails or where the switchpoints meet the stock rail.

Here is a nice close shot (from the last newsletter) showing an N scale #6 code 55 turnout. As can be seen in the picture the solder is on both sides of the rail. I am careful to use a minimal amount of solder so it will be virtually invisiable when the turnout is painted up and installed.

Also, there is no possibility of wheel flanges hitting the solder in the inside of the rail, as it is a very small amount of solder used.
