I read in one of the mags about the copper seperating from the fibreglass on the moving sleeper pcb after awhile. The solution in the mag was two pieces of square brass tubing with an insulating joiner. This should last longer and be stronger at the point motor wire hole.
I'm curious about how the brass pieces were joined to the insulating one. I would think that would create 2 potential points of failure. The brass tube must create a hump that has to be dealt with as well. I've seen poor quality PC material come apart, but what we get here is good stuff. You CAN overheat it and cause failure or get corrosion from poor cleaning. I intentionally tortured a piece of scrap by "cooking" it with my iron for a ridiculous time and the cladding stayed on. I'm not too worried about failure.
