Fast Tracks

I have found that when I grind away the foot of the closure rails that the web on the QuickSticks no longer lines up with much of what's left. Then, when I glue the thing together with Pliobond, it's often the case that I get some squeeze out which is a bear to remove so it doesn't gum up the works. I also experience some dragging of the points on the wooden ties.

To fix all this, I now am sanding down the ties between the webs on the QuickSticks (actually, I'm using a flexible file) between the throwbar and the first soldered tie. I am also not using Pliobond on the ties from the throwbar to that tie. Instead, I'm using superglue, just a drop applied at the side of the rail on the outside only.

The result is the smoothest and easiest to move points I've ever seen. They'll move full swing using the tip of the full length of the wire that comes with a Tortoise, and that's pretty thin stuff. FWIW, I've been testing this with code 100, HO, #5's. Longer and/or lighter weight track turnouts should be even easier.
