Tim, Ron,

I was surprised yesterday finding the rather terse "banned from this forum" message while dropping by. Since that page said to contact the webmaster or site admin, but gave no further information, I'm dropping in from work today to ask "what's with that, eh?" ;-) Blocking by IP, it seems, but I assume there's some sort of mistake or explanation, as I'd like to believe my participation here has been constructive and hopefully even promotional....

Hopefully much ado over nothing. ;-)

Hello Thomas,

We did not ban you intentionally. Sorry about that. We have been battling a nasty spamming issue with someone (or something) posting spam messages all over our forums and your IP must of got added to the ban list by mistake. You should be able to post to the forums with no problems now.

We did have had to turn on the registration system. Something we have been loath to do, but do not seem to have any other choice at this point.

Hopefully that will solve the spam problem to some degree.

As a webmaster myself, I hear you; I suspected it might have been something like that. Spambots get more and more invasive each day, and you really have to put up your defenses nowadays (hence the web-based contact instead of email in my signature above.)

I'm sorry you had to go through the trouble of instituting registration, but like I said, I understand why you had to do it. Good luck fighting the good fight against spam.
