was wondering if there are other track standards besides nmra.
i know of the 2mm standards...
but was wondering if there was anything like the proto 87 guys out there for n scale.
any proto 160?
or maybe a finescale n?
or maybe at least a near finescale standards?

Sam,

'N' has several fiNescale groups at various levels of fidelity. Some do use 2mm wheels (or the near same NWSL N/50 profile). Others will use the NWSL N/64 and build frogs and flangeways to P87 standard - keeping the 9mm gage of course. With steam - you are going to have to be a craftsman - but diesel conversions and cars are fairly easy.

There are several web sites and yahoo groups for N_finescale, as well as several groups in Europe.

NMRA S3.1 and S4.1 has optional fine scale stndards for N scale - and are for use of the 2mm wheelsets or the NWSL N/50 profiles.

There have been a few true PROTO:160 craftsmen, but the 'standards' are VERY demanding. Brian Harrap has built triple gage P87, several P160 modules, AND a P-Z (nearly a true Proto:220) layout!
