Fast Tracks

Hello everybody

I'm new here and first want to tell you something about me. I'm 25 years young and I live in Switzerlands capital city, Bern. I model the Milwaukee Roadin H0 scale, mostly it's electrified Rocky Mountain Division in the late 60'-1972. I collected a löot of rolling stock and locomotives over the years, including a couple of Little Joe electrics.
I have a question regarding this Lil Joes operating on #6 turnouts:
I use Roco Line code 83 turnouts with a radius of 888mm (about 35") just to let my engines run on the floor from time to time. The Joes have a rigid wheelbase of about 4", the forward and the rear truck are connected with a joint. They operate on this radius, but they derail if this radius is aranged as an s-curve. The roco line turnout have the radius go on after the frog. 15? diverging angle and about 10? frog angle. Because of the joint between the trucks, the trucks have to few side movement for a s-curve. I do not necesseraly want to remove the joint.
American switches are straight after the frog, and the radius of a #6 is about 43". Do you think it would work with this turnout?

I'm not sure if the Roco #6 turnouts will accommodate your L'il Joe locomotives or not. At Fast Tracks, we have turnout assembly fixtures to build your own turnouts in HO scale in #4,5,6,7,8,9,10 & 12. As the turnout # increases then so do the operational characterisitics. The Little Joe wont properly operate on the Roco turnout if assembled as a crossover. I think I'll have to buy 2 Twist Ties #6 and assemble them just to see if the Joes will operate on this.

ps: I read all the How-To's on this site and I think that this style of handlaying is really nice.
