I have miles of rosin cored solder wire down to about .4mm diameter and,
of course, do not use a separate flux for electrical work.

We don't seem to be able to locate uncored wire in such small sizes and I am wondering whether there would be an issue in using rosin cored wire in
conjunction with the acid flux supplied by Fast Tracks or some other available flux?

Hello Pat,

.4mm diameter solder will work just fine with acid based flux.

The most important element is the small diameter of the solder. This makes it much easier to create a clean, solid joint. If you a skilled solderer (is there such a word?), then you can even forgo the flux, but this requires impeccably clean surfaces and quite a bit of practice. Acid based flux just makes it much easier to solder and is easy to clean off the fixtures as they can be washed after soldering.
