One thing I wanted to mention about Barge cement is, if you can, use it full strength with a tip as mentioned in your post. Once you set the rail in place, using laquer thinner to reactivate the glue instead of MEK will result in a much stronger bond.

Most have to make a tip from some other applicator and adapt to the Pliobond tube.
You can use ACC - but it dries hard and over time will shear due to humidity conditions moving the roadbed and ties around - the old conduntrum.
You can use thined Barge cement - but it handles differently than Pliobond - uses MEK as an activator vs. heat. Barge cement is felxible and has a stronger holding power over Pliobond once set and cured.
Another old trick is to mix the Pliobond 50-50 with a tube of Ambroid glue - paint or swab the mixture on the base of the rails thinly - set in place with good weights - after about 2 hours it will bond well and you'll NEVER be able to break the connections - let it dry well for 16 - 18 hours before too much traffic.
