Does anyone know if there is a track library of Fast Track turnouts for the 3rd Planit layout planning software?

I'm a beta tester of 3rd planit. Do you need some contact info/introduction to the programmer for 3pi??

I'd like to see all of the standard gauge turnouts 4-8, the Y's and the fixed-radius curved turnouts. Eventually, of course, all of them plus the crossings.

Attached are 3rd Planit turnout definitions for Fast Tracks #4, #5, #6 and #8 turnouts. They were created with 3rd Planit 7.10. You can of course add these definitions to any existing or new 3rd Planit track library of your choice.

I created these definitions by starting with the NMRA definitions in the Honner Turnout Calculator, and adjusting the values slightly to match actual measurements from my Fast Tracks forms.

While the resulting 3rd Planit defintions do not match the Fast Track reality perfectly, they are as close as I could make them. If I print the 3rd Planit turnout full size on my Canon 820 printer, and also print the Fast Track template full size on the same printer, and finally overlay them one onto the other on a light table, the only visible difference is a slight difference in the shape of the curved main rail. The frogs and all 3 endpoints line up perfectly.

I think these definitions should be plenty good enough for track planning purposed, and I will be using them in my plan.

The reason I only have 4, 5, 6 and 8 is that those are the only Fast Track forms I have...:-)

I *really* hope you'll get one of the new #4 1/2 turnouts. The curved portion has a radius of 20", making it ideal for yards. The frog angle is 12.5 degrees. As I also have 3PI, I'd really love to know how you managed to tweak the thing to produce accurate turnouts.

Look at page 56 of the 3pi v7 user manual. Actually page 68 of the pdf file. Right click on the turnout and select properties. There are only four dimensions to modify. Right click on a turnout and select properties.

I have created turnouts in N scale that are a pretty good match to the Fast Tracks standard N Scale #6 and #8 turnout jigs.

I used trial and error to adjust the parameters in the 3PI turnout properties to get them right. I double checked by printing out the turnouts from 3PI and overlaying them with turnouts made from using the jigs.

Thanks Ron. Attached is the 3rd Plan It library containing the #6 and #8 Fast Tracks turnouts for N scale. I have not tried to use these in other scales.
