Is there anyone here that has tackled the 3-way turnouts? According to the folks at Fast Traclks the three frogs in a 3-way are each a bit different which requires the use of the frog helper or the newly design jig with the frog maker built in. The question I have is where in teh turnout do you need the frog making jig to make the parts?

A 3-Way turnout contains 2 different frog angles. The new Track Building Kits for 3-Way turnouts includes a combination Point Form tool to make the different frog angles required.

New question about the three way turnouts. I have noticed an oddball guard rail across from the stub frog. Any suggestions as to how to make this guy? Its located right next to the hinge point of the second set of points along the outside stock rail.

Print a copy of the HO 3-way turnout found in our Track Template Library and you'll see that this guard rail is similar to the other short guard rails except one end must be filed down to fit. Since the guard rails are normally the last pieces of rail added during construction you'll have to file and test until it fits between the stock rail and the closure rail.

I have looked very closely at the guardrail in question and I had an extra set of points made up. The necessary angle in the rail looks very close to the point rail angle so I cut of the correct point to the guard rail length and made the wing bend in the correct end. Result looks like a perfect fit. Dopes this sound like a reasonable effort or is it more likely the angles involved are incorrect?
