Tim,
Just wondering what grit belt you use to remove rail base on switch points. I don't want to use too coarse, but know from experience in other metal working projects that too fine creates too much heat.

Hi,

Personally I find 80 grit works best. Your are correct in that finer grit can generate a lot of heat which can introduce some warping in the rail. The coarser grits work faster and generate less heat with no other side effects.
