Fast Tracks

I would like to construct #6 Turnouts and crossovers that are compatible with S-Helper highrail wheelsets and American Flyer trains as well. I would be using them with S-Helper Flextrack.

Would these require custom Fast Track jigs/templates etc. ??

It would depend on the final track gauge. I have not worked the the American Flyer standards. If the track gauge is fairly close to the current S scale standards than the custom track gauge option can be selected. If the final gauge is quite a bit different from current NASG standards the layout of the ties may need to be modified, and this would require a completely custom fixture.

Do you have the published standards for this gauge?

The gauge shoud be the same, but the flangeways are probably different. I was hoping this question had already been asked, I'll research the dimensions and get back to you.

In answer to the track gauge, the actual S standard measures to .884", however, that's only .009" wider than 7/8" (.875"). In building turnouts, a closed-frog is about the only way to ensure smooth operation if you operate Flyer along with scale equipment. That's because the Flyer flanges will not go through scale flangeways in the frog. If you widen the flangeways to accommodate them, the scale equipment has a tough time going through without derailing. I've seen some nice hand-laid closed-frog turnouts that are difficult to tell apart unless you look closely.
