Fast Tracks

I went to Crappy Tire today (Canadians should know what I'm refering to) and picked up some flux. They only had two different kinds: one was Petroleum-based and the second was water-based. I grabbed some of the petroleum-based stuff figuring it was the acid-based stuff. Am I assuming correctly, or is the water-based stuff what I should grab?

Thats a good question. I have not been aware of a Petroleum or Water based versions. If buying in Canada looks for Kester SP-30 Acid flux, usually available where the plumbing supplies are sold as it is mainly used for copper pipe soldering.

In the end though, it is only how well it performs for you that determines the best choice of flux, I would suggest you give it a try and see if you can get good results easily with it, if you can then that is the one to stick with.

BTW, Crappy Tire is Canadian Tire for all the non-Canadians out there. Oddly enough, they really don't sell tires.....
